The Echo2 7'8" 3wt is designed for small to medium rivers and small ponds. At 7'8” the rod is short enough to fish up close or under obstacles but has enough length for longer casts. The rod is designed to throw small to medium flies...a perfect small stream rod. The Echo2 rods come with two tips, one for Distance and one for Accuracy.... you get two rods in one. To quote Tim Rajeff, “The accuracy tip is softer, which allows the rod to load with less line out the rod for times when you are starting with the fly in your hand. The accuracy tip also helps people who have smoother casting strokes because they can feel the rod load sooner in the stroke and help them take full advantage of the rods overall power.” The Distance tip is stiffer. This is the perfect tip to use for bringing sinking lines to the surface, for throwing longer lines, and for people with a more aggressive casting stroke. Because it is stiffer it forces the butt to load sooner in the stroke giving the rod a more modest feel. Each Echo2 rod comes with a maroon colored cordura-covered PVC rod tube and sock.
